After coming off victories at last week’s home meet, both Rattlers Cross Country running teams continued their hot start to the 2026 season with a pair of podium placements at ACAC 2 – The St Mary’s University Open in Calgary on Saturday.

Led by team captain Reyna Woodruff’s individual 3rd place, the MHC women placed second in the team standings in the women’s 6 km race, behind the victorious Red Deer Polytechnic. Three other Rattlers cracked the top 12 including Meghan Reefhuis (6th), Presley Brennan (10th), and Sarah Laturnus (12th).

The MHC men also had a solid race, finishing third among 10 ACAC teams in the men’s 8 km event. Rookie Alejandro Ayala had the best Rattlers’ finish, a 6th place result. Ethan Mellish (13th), Will Miller (20th), Spencer Wilson (27th), Keegan Kolody (31st), and Logan Mellish (37th) were the other Rattlers’ finishers.

Next up for the XC Rattlers is ACAC 3 – The RDP Open in Red Deer on October 2.
