A small contingent of six MHC runners travelled to Edmonton on Saturday to contest ACAC #1 – The Concordia Open. The group managed to bring home three medals.

2024-25 Rattlers Female Athlete of the Year Maddie Scrimger again led the MHC squad with a second place finish in the women’s 6 km event. Scrimger ran a patient race, moving up on laps 2 and 3 to stop the clock in 24:50, a mere 15 seconds behind winner Ashlee Walker from Concordia.
Pheonix Asprey (4th), Ellie Barlow (22nd) and Aki Iwata (25th) were the other Rattlers finishers in the race. Collectively, the MHC women placed third in the team standings behind 2024 ACAC champions Red Deer Polytechnic and NAIT Polytechnic.
Rookie Logan Pancoast made his ACAC debut a memorable one, capturing the bronze medal in the men’s 8 km race in a time of 30:03. Pancoast’s placing represents the best MHC male result in an ACAC race since the re-birth of the XC program in 2020. Spencer Wilson also had a strong run, finishing 23rd.
With only two men competing, the Rattlers did not register a team score.
Next up for the MHC runners is ACAC #2 in Lethbridge on September 20.
