A full squad of MHC Rattlers runners headed north on Saturday to take part in ACAC 4 – Augustana Open in Camrose. As the final tune-up race before the ACAC Championships in three weeks in Grande Prairie, all 12 ACAC XC schools sent teams to the event.
Placing four women in the top 16, the Rattler’s women had another strong showing, finishing a close second to Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) in the women’s 6 km race. MHC was led by the dynamic duo of Pheonix Asprey (5th) and Maddie Scrimger (6th). They were followed by Reyna Woodruff (15th), Ellie Barlow (16th), Addy Weir (30th), Aki Iwata (33rd), Ciana Catonio (34th), Ava Dyck (39th), Presely Brennan (40th), Hannah Ulm (42nd), and Elise Stark (45th).

As he’s done all season, rookie Logan Pancoast was the first Rattler runner, finishing 4th in the men’s 8 km distance. Teammates Keegan Kolody (23rd) and Spencer Willson (28th) followed. Askia Tahirou (46th) and Griffin Goodfellow (50th) also competed. Collectively, the Rattlers were 6th among men’s teams.

In the combined men’s/women’s standings, MHC placed third, a mere two points behind second-place Lethbridge Polytechnic. RDP won the combined event.
