Third-year nursing student Madison Scrimger was named 2024-25 MHC Rattlers Female Athlete of the Year on Friday night at the 53rd Annual Rattlers Awards banquet. During this past season, Scrimger was named to the ACAC All Conference Team in both cross-country and indoor track, and she earned a full set of ACAC individual medals – Gold in the 3000m, Silver in the 1500m, and bronze in the 6 km cross country. She also achieved CCAA All Academic status.
This was the third consecutive year that a Rattlers runner has won the MHC Female AOY. Scrimger also captured this award last year, while Becky Ross was the 2022-23 winner.
Rattlers Running team awards were also handed out on Friday. The winners were:
Ellie Barlow – Cross Country Rookie of the Year
Adara Both – Indoor Track Rookie of the Year
Gage Smith – Cross Country Rattler Award
Chibuikem Chukwunyerenwa – Indoor Track Rattler Award
Madison Scrimger – Cross Country and Indoor Track Most Valuable Player
While the ACAC season has ended, a number of Rattlers runners will be taking part in the 2025 Rattler Run at MHC on April 26. Registration for the event is now open at http://www.rattlerrun.ca
