Scrimger Prevails in ACAC 1 Cross Country Race

Maddie Scrimger leads the way in 2024 ACAC 1 – Concordia Open

Third-year Rattlers runner Maddie Scrimger recorded her first-ever ACAC Cross Country race win on Saturday in Edmonton. The 19-year old nursing student established an early lead and never looked back, stopping the clock in a time of 25:36 for the 6 km rolling course in Gold Bar Park. Scrimger was 24 seconds ahead of second place finisher Ashlee Walker of the host school Concordia University of Edmonton,

Rattler team mates Ellie Barlow and Addison Wiley also took part in the race. The rookie pair both made their ACAC debuts with Barlow finishing in 8th place and Wiley placing 30th.

Three Rattler men contested the 8 km distance. Rookie Askia Tahirou led the way with a 17th place finish, Gage Smith was 22nd, and Spencer Wilson crossed the line in 25th place.

Next up for the Rattlers runners is the Lethbridge Polytechnic Open on September 21st.
