Ross Repeats – MHC Runner wins ACAC XC #2

Rattlers runner Becky Ross and her teammates were in Calgary on Saturday contesting ACAC #2 – the Jordan Fish Open at West Confederation Park. As she did last week, Ross topped the field of college runners, recording a time of 23:57 in hot conditions over a rolling 6 km course.

Maddy Scrimger also put in a strong run, getting her second podium placement of the season. She finished third, 50 seconds behind Ross. Other Rattlers women taking part included Pyper Gill (16th ), Mizuki Iwata (20th), Annika Marshall (31st), and Kabri Stickel (33rd). Inclusive education runner Joanne Gonzales completed 4 km of the course.

Women’s 6 km start – 2023 ACAC #2 Jordan Fish Open

Collectively, the MHC women were second behind Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP). Lethbridge College was third.

In the men’s 8 km race, the Rattlers equalled their best-ever placing in a full-field ACAC race by finishing in fourth place. Veterans Harrison Lawson and Shintaro Iwata were the top MHC runners placing 17th and 19th respectively.. Justin Jager (22nd), Jaiden Romaniuk (23rd), Tristan Scrimger (26th), Gage Smith (32nd), and Jon McKinley (38th) were the other MHC finishers. Rookie Spencer Wilson, who is dealing with knee inury, completed the first 5 kms of the race.

RDP won the men’s race ahead of Lethbridge College and the host school SAIT.

Next up for the Rattlers is ACAC #3 in Lethbridge on September 30.
