After a 20-year plus hiatus, the MHC Rattlers XC Running team returned to ACAC competition on Saturday, Sept. 18 when it hosted four other colleges in ACAC #1 South race at the MHC Campus.
The newly re-launched XC program had a successful debut, placing 2nd among the men’s teams and 3rd among the women’s team. Rookie runners Pyper Gill and Aden Haywood led the home team. Gill placed 3rd in the women’s 6 km race while Haywood was 5th among the men, who ran 8 km.
The race was held on a 3 km loop on the MHC campus. While unseasonably warm temperatures and strong winds hampered performances, the visiting teams enjoyed a well organized competition on a very spectator-friendly course.
